Anxiety and Stress

Stress words make us feel stressed.

Nowadays school kids use this so casually.

I know this is the topic which we have been listening to and reading everywhere.

However I was compelled to write as I have been seeing a lot of patients around me specially females with these complaints related to stress and anxiety.

Anxiety to a certain level is fine but when it becomes unmanageable and overwhelming then it starts taking a toll on your physical and mental health.

What do you think can be reasons for it and how can we minimise those causes?

Causes

  • Post Covid
  • Pregnancy and conception during COVID-19 times.
  • No family support.
  • Managing single-handedly
  • Sometimes using easy ways to entertain kids like gadgets leads to developmental issues in kids and that is one of the big reasons for anxiety issues in parents, especially mothers.
  • Staying away from family, especially parents leads to less communication.
  • Parents not paying much attention to kids who are living away in different countries.
  • They feel abandoned by their parents.
  • Feeling overwhelmed with small day-to-day work too.
  • Maybe trying to manage too many things with perfection and at the cost of one’s health.
  • Lack of communication with partners or friends.
  • I have also seen cases nowadays, especially in the Corporate World where those in higher positions tend to put people under them on the spot. This creates a lot of stress in the workspace.
  • Excess use of gadgets and screens leads to restlessness and less concentration.

Are there any means and ways to reduce this?

  • Support from family, friends and partners.
  • Sometimes a small communication can help you find a solution to it.
  • Be vocal about your symptoms if you feel any.
  • Taking help from experts in the field  like counsellors, your GP,
  • And not using Google to manage and diagnose yourself.
  • Being physically active and doing whatever you can in your schedule.
  • I believe almost 50 % of symptoms and anxiety issues can be sorted with Good communication, Healthy Diet, and Regular Physical Activity.
  • Once you realise the feeling
  • The workspace stress and anxiety can be reduced by not reacting spontaneously and taking a moment to think and relax.
  • You can use some relaxing techniques like counting and deep Breathing.
  • Read some good books.
  • Include walking in your daily routine. It makes you feel fresh.
